The Communauté Université Grenoble Alpes and Okayama University signed a university level agreement of cooperation and student exchange appendix in September 2015.

The visiting delegation included Ms. Elisa GLANGEAUD, Head of the International Relation Office , Ms Caroline PIETON in charge of International Relations at Grenoble Institute of Technology, an Engineering and Technical partner institution of the University, and Ms. Sandrine VERNET from “Sciences Po”, the faculty of Political Sciences.

At the Introductory meeting with President H. MAKINO, a common future was recognized in “Achieving a fruitful academic capital and in the future partnership strengthening, in particular via medical-related collaborations.”

Then a full review meeting was held (more here). It was opened by Mr. Daiji TAKEUCHI , Executive Vice-President of Research who gave a brief Introduction of Okayama University activities and closed by Mrs. E. GLANGEAUD who stated:

“”In this meeting we have seen numerous and very interesting projects, long term collaborations in various and complementary fields. From high school level with the “Global Science Campus” to students exchanges and research projects, including all types of students, staff and researchers.

We have met a few happy French Students among those 11 welcomed in the FY-2018 at your university. Happy Japanese & French high School students as well in the Global discovery program, and happy teachers and researchers.

We further understood our common and numerous perspectives for the future. In particular those relying on the Global discovery program and the ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) program.

An interesting point to focus on is that our institutions have identified different complementary funding programs at local, national and international levels (all issued from the European Union, French & Japan ministries, Auvergne Rhone-Alpes Region, municipalities).

Together with Mrs Pieton and Mrs Vernet, we hope to welcome you again in Grenoble soon to visit our colleagues. And another visit of a Grenoble Delegation at Okayama University should be planned in a next future.

I wish to conclude with the 3 words we have seen today on each power point presentation “promising powerful collaboration”. A nice way to strengthen bridging our institutions and Japanese & French culture.””
