Release on August – 15th – 2021: amid continued global decline in Japanese universities over the last 20 years, in 2021 Okayama University maintains its ARWU (Shanghai) ranking.

    In a new attempt to halt slide in international rankings, in January 2021, the Cabinet Office announced a $100 Billion university fund for Japanese Universities. To be launched from March 2022. For comparison, the European Union HORIZON EUROPE program is a funding of  $120 Billion from 2021, over 7 years.
